ยูนิเซฟเรียกร้องให้ทุกฝ่ายปกป้องเด็กและเยาวชนท่ามกลางการชุมนุมในประเทศไทย BANGKOK, 18 August 2020 – UNICEF is concerned about the potential harm that children may be facing amidst the ongoing protests in Thailand and calls on all parties to uphold children and young people’s right to freedom of expression, and to protect them from all forms of violence and intimidation. กรุงเทพฯ 18 สิงหาคม 2563 - องค์การยูนิเซฟรู้สึกกังวลต่ออันตรายที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นกับเด็กและเยาวชนท่ามกลางการชุมนุมที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทย และขอเรียกร้องให้ทุกฝ่ายเคารพสิทธิและเสรีภาพในการแสดงออกของเด็กและเยาวชน พร้อมร่วมกันปกป้องพวกเขาจากความรุนแรงและการถูกคุกคามทุกรูปแบบ Children’s rights to participation, peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, including in peaceful protest, are enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the most widely ratified human rights treaty in the world. Thailand has ratified the CRC in 1992, committing to guaranteeing that children’s rights are fulfilled, including their right to participation, expressing their opinions in a peaceful manner, and for their voices to be heard. อนุสัญญาว่าด้วยสิทธิเด็ก (Convention on the Rights of the Child - CRC) ซึ่งเป็นสนธิสัญญาด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนที่ได้รับการรับรองมากที่สุดในโลก ได้รับรองสิทธิในการมีส่วนร่วมของเด็ก เสรีภาพในการแสดงออก ซึ่งรวมถึงการชุมนุมอย่างสันติ ทั้งนี้ ประเทศไทยได้ให้สัตยาบันในอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยสิทธิเด็กในพ.ศ. 2532 โดยให้คำมั่นว่าจะดำเนินการเพื่อให้เด็ก ๆ ได้เข้าถึงสิทธิที่พวกเขาพึงมี ซึ่งรวมถึงสิทธิในการมีส่วนร่วมและการแสดงความคิดเห็นอย่างสันติโดยได้รับการรับฟัง UNICEF urges all actors to ensure that children and young people are safe at all times, and that they are able to voice their opinions peacefully about issues that affect their present and future, without fear or intimidation. ยูนิเซฟขอเรียกร้องให้ทุกฝ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องดำเนินการเพื่อประกันความปลอดภัยของเด็กและเยาวชนทุกคนในทุกที่ทุกเวลา และให้พวกเขาสามารถแสดงความคิดเห็นอย่างสันติต่อเรื่องที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อพวกเขาทั้งในปัจจุบันและอนาคต โดยปราศจากความกลัวหรือการถูกคุกคาม UNICEF reiterates that schools and learning institutions should be safe havens for children, where they can constructively voice their opinions and their ideas be acknowledged.
