Offering of saffron robes Monks devote their life to purify their mind by living in simplicity. They train themselves to minimize their possession and reflect on their purposes before using. They wear only the monastic robes which composed of three pieces. At the beginning, they will only picked up pieces of cloth that wrapped corpses or disposed of, to make robes. The clothes would be stitched together and dyed with materials found in forest. There are 10 colors monks allowed to use ranging from brown to maroon. The saffron robes in Therāvada tradition is still in the same style as in the time of the Buddha, 2,500 years ago. Later, monks are allowed to receive the offering of robes. The purposes of clothing are to protect one from danger of heat and cold, insect, uncomfortable contact, and to cover body parts. Therefore, offering of saffron considered as giving safety, modesty and comfort. The giver shall receive these benefits in return fo their generosity. Cr.
